In France, 80 police officers were hurt and almost 1,000 people were detained after a fourth night of disturbance brought on by the deadly police shooting of a teenager, although authorities claimed the atmosphere was calmer than the previous before.

On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron denounced the continued violence in the country as a “unacceptable situation” after a third consecutive night of nationwide demonstrations following a teenager’s fatal police shooting resulted in cars being set on fire, stores being trashed, and hundreds being detained.

Additionally, he called on social media platforms like TikTok and Snapchat to remove “the most sensitive types of content” that had been posted and to give law enforcement the names of users who were using their platforms to plan violent acts.

Elite Raid police officers in body armor patrolled strategic areas in black armored vehicles not just in Nanterre but also in Lille to the north and Marseille to the south in scenes that resembled guerilla warfare.

On Friday night, 45 000 police personnel, including special forces, were sent out to put an end to riots across the nation. The situation in two major towns, Marseille and Lyon, was highlighted as particularly chaotic, with stores being looted and buildings and vehicles being set on fire.
