Sheryl Crow has forcefully responded to the controversy around Jason Aldean’s song “Try That in a Small Town.” The song, which was released in July 2023, has been criticized for its lyrics, which some people believe promote violence and intolerance.
In a post on Twitter, Crow wrote: “I’m from a small town, and even people in small towns are sick of violence. There’s nothing ‘country’ or ‘American’ about promoting violence. Jason Aldean should know better.”
Crow’s tweet has been retweeted over 10,000 times and has received thousands of likes. Many people have praised Crow for speaking out against the song, while others have defended Aldean, saying that the song is simply a reflection of life in some small towns.
Aldean has not responded to the controversy. However, his record label, Broken Bow Records, has issued a statement saying that the song is “not meant to promote violence or intolerance.”
