During the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show on Sunday, Usher sang some of his greatest hits from his 30-year career in an electrifying show that included special guests.
The “You Remind of a Girl” crooner dressed in all white with a cloak, opened the act on the football field. Many of his hit songs, including “Caught Up,” “Love in this Club,” “U Got It Bad,” “OMG,” “Yeah!” and others, were mashups throughout his performance.
Using acrobats and a lavish Las Vegas theme, Usher opened his presentation with the timeless song “Caught Up,” showcasing his highly regarded flair.
The leading man joined her before he performed the opening line of their famous hit, “My Boo,” after Alicia Keys approached the stage with a bespoke piano and shouted out her single, “If I Ain’t Got You.” He then launched into his singles, “Superstar” and “Love in This Club.”
The two R&B greats gave a touching performance of Keys’ 2004 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 smash, “My Boo,” after a little clip of their song “If I Ain’t Got You.” Other attendees included Jermaine Dupri, who introduced “Confessions, Pt. II,” Oscar-winning R&B singer-songwriter H.E.R., who played a Prince-esque guitar solo during Usher’s jaw-dropping performance of “U Got It Bad” before playing the opening licks of “Bad Girl,” and Ludacris, who delivered his famous “Yeah!” verse with precision.
The National Football League (NFL) in the United States holds an annual league championship game called the Super Bowl. Since 1966, it has taken the place of the NFL Championship Game as the last game of each NFL season. The game has taken place on the second Sunday of February since 2022. Previous Super Bowls took place on Sundays in late January (1979–2003), early to mid-January (1967–1978), and the first Sunday of February (2021–2004). The Vince Lombardi Trophy, named for the coach of the same name who won the first two Super Bowls, is given to the winning teams.
