Four deaths in Alabama have been attributed to a TikTok boat jumping challenge that involves participants jumping off the back of moving boats as they are traveling at high speeds.
Authorities have issued a warning on the dangerous boat challenge on TikTok.
According to reports, the trend’s participants jumped or flipped from the backs of swift boats, only to break their necks when they slammed into the sea at high speed and drown.

Participants in the challenge launch themselves into the wake behind a moving boat from the back of the vessel.

Officials in Alabama have now alleged that the new craze has killed four people after they promptly shattered their necks.

“It is going to be like you have fallen from heights on a concrete sidewalk,” said Gail Kulp, Executive Director of the Sea Tow Foundation. “Water is not soft to land on when you are going at speed.”

According to Dailymail.co.uk, Captain Jim Dennis with the Childersburg Rescue Squad told WPDE said: ‘Last six months we have had four drownings that were easily avoidable.

‘They were doing a TikTok challenge. It’s where you get in a boat going at a high rate of speed, you jump off the side of the boat, don’t dive, you’re jumping off feet first and you just kinda lean into the water.

‘The four that we responded to when they jumped out of the boat, they literally broke their neck and, you know, basically an instant death.’

There are currently several videos with warnings on the #boatjumping feed. “Taking part in this activity could lead to you or others getting hurt,” it states.
