The 16-year-old woman who has accused Russell Brand of molesting her when he was 31 today blamed the BBC for the incident, alleging the actor’s Radio 2 driver took her up from school.
The woman claims to have been in a three-month romance with Brand when she was just 16 years old.
He had a well-known show on BBC Radio 6 Music back in 2006 at the time. He was 30 years old.
In an interview with Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, the woman, who is now in her 30s, laid out her accusations.
All investigations into whether they helped his alleged attacks or ignored complaints were initiated by the BBC, Channel 4 and Banijay United Kingdom, the production company that operated Big Brother spin offs he presented.
She added the driver “took me to my grandma’s house one day from Russell’s house. And then when the car picked me up from school, it was the same car . . . I knew that that was a BBC car”.
Brand’s relationship with the teen girl is alleged to have taken place in 2006, while he was presenting a programme on BBC Radio 6 Music.
The BBC said in a statement: “The documentary and associated reports contained serious allegations, spanning a number of years.
“Russell Brand worked on BBC radio programmes between 2006 and 2008 and we are urgently looking into the issues raised.”
The actor embroiled in a scandal, who adamantly rejects charges that he assaulted women, also deleted the interview from Soundcloud.
Since Channel 4, The Times, and Sunday Times published shocking charges from women, Mr. Herring’s YouTube channel has removed the footage and interview.
In 2010, Brand was fired from hosting the MTV Video Music Awards after he made a joke about the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He later apologized for the joke, saying that he “misjudged the tone” of the event.
