The University of Oklahoma said that there is no threat to the school in response to the police stating that they were looking into a complaint of rounds being fired at the campus.
A report of an active shooter and possible shots on the University of Oklahoma’s campus fired turned out to be “a bogus call,” according to university police.
“After a thorough search, no threat was found. There is no threat to campus. Alert has been canceled,” the university said on Twitter at 10:53 p.m. CT Friday.
Just before 9:30 p.m. CT, the university tweeted there was an active shooter and urged people to “take immediate action now. Run. Hide. Fight!”
The warning was followed by another tweet indicating campus police were investigating “possible shots fired” on school grounds.
“Avoid South Oval area. Shelter in place,” the university had said.
Around 9:24 p.m, a call came in that reported gunfire at the library on campus at the university in Norman, close to Oklahoma City, Tarver said. The university then sent an emergency alert.
