The Marion (Illinois) Police Department detained William Davis, 44, of Lexington after discovering 40 vape pens, 30 bottles of THC syrup, and more than 80 pounds of marijuana in his car.
Police said they confiscated 82.9 pounds of marijuana.
“If you were curious how much cannabis you can transport in your car, the amount is NOT 82 pounds,” the Marion Police Department wrote in a Facebook post on Monday.
He was traveling to Chicago when he was stopped for speeding in a construction zone.
Prior to his court date, he was brought to the Williamson County Prison.
Illinois allows adults 21 and older to use marijuana, however the amount of cannabis flower that can be lawfully possessed by a person is capped at 30 grams for residents and 15 grams for non-residents.
Residents of Illinois are only permitted to own 30 grams of marijuana per person.
He was accused with driving while his license was suspended or revoked, speeding in a construction zone, manufacturing or delivering less than 5,000 grams of marijuana, and trafficking less than 5,000 grams of marijuana.
