The attack has been condemned by the Imo State Government and the Nigerian Police Force. The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has ordered the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the attack and bring them to justice.

The attack is the latest in a series of attacks on security personnel in Imo State. In recent months, there have been several attacks on police stations and checkpoints in the state. The attacks have been attributed to various armed groups, including the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

According to a voice in a popular video, the security agents were traveling from Oriagu market to Aba-branch in Toyota Hilux cars.

“I spotted two Hilux patrol vehicles pass my shop and I never knew they were being traced by bandits. Just a few minutes later, I started hearing that those officers had been shot dead at Aba branch,” the voice said.

“When I got there, the two Hilux vehicles were on fire with the officers burnt beyond recognition. As I speak, Oriagu and Isinweke are blocked at the moment.

“Inhabitants of the areas have run away for fear of the unknown. The areas have been cordoned off by the police and army as the place is currently boiling.”
