When Stephen A. Smith couldn’t stop uttering “vibrating” on-air, it led to an extremely awkward moment with Molly Qerim.
Qerim’s phone went off during the segment, and Smith was agitated by it.
Qerim’s phone was “vibrating,” according to Smith, so much so that his co-hosts started to feel a little awkward.
“That’s Molly’s cell phone ringing by the way,” Smith said.
“It’s not ringing,” Qerim interjected, to which Smith replied: “[It’s] vibrating.
“I tried to say ring. Do you want me to say vibrating on the air?” he asked.
“You always like me mentioning vibrating on the air with your phone. Do you really want me to do that?”
Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim are the co-hosts of First Take, a daily morning sports debate show on ESPN. The show, which premiered in 2007, is one of the most popular sports shows on television, averaging over 500,000 viewers per episode.
Smith is a well-known sports expert and commentator who is well-known for his fervent and strong opinions on the most recent developments in sports. Sportscaster Qerim has hosted several ESPN programs, such as NFL Live and SportsCenter. He is an accomplished actor.
On First Take, Smith and Qerim are joined by a rotating cast of guests, including athletes, coaches, and analysts. The show covers a wide range of sports topics, but it is best known for its heated debates and hot takes.
Smith and Qerim have a good working relationship, and they often play off each other’s personalities. Smith is the more outspoken and passionate of the two, while Qerim is the more level-headed and moderating voice.
