During the most recent State of the Union address, President Joe Biden became entangled in a comical yet difficult situation when he confused the late nursing student Laken Riley for USC head coach Lincoln Riley.
During President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a MAGA conservative, yelled at him to mention the name of a Georgia nursing student whose alleged murderer is an illegal immigrant.
As Biden was speaking, Greene heckled and surprised him by calling for Republicans in the House and Senate to back a Senate border agreement.
“What about Laken Riley?” Multiple times, Greene let out cries from her spot on the chamber floor.
After pausing, Biden turned to face his right and placed the “Laken Riley” pin that Greene had given him on the ground before his coronation.
Grasping the pin, Biden exclaimed, “Lincoln Riley? A young lady who was innocent and slain by an unlawful! Is that correct? But how many thousands of people are illegal immigrants killing?
On February 22, the 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia passed away while jogging.
Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, is accused of killing her.
The House enacted the Laken Riley Act just hours before Biden’s speech, requiring that immigrants who enter the nation illegally and are charged with theft be placed in federal detention.
When Biden entered the House chamber to make his comments, Greene handed him the pin.
